Building back better

Like many businesses, we faced our share of challenges. The loss of several colleagues meant precious knowledge and experience had walked out the door, leaving the team struggling to maintain consistent processes across the business. Sales, calibrations, repairs, every department felt the pressure.

“We’d lost a number of colleagues and with them a level of knowledge and experience that left us struggling with processes throughout the business. The flow was all wrong, people were constantly walking from one workstation to another, wasting time and energy.” said Rebecca Charlton, Support Services Manager.

Rather than simply trying to patch things up, the team made a bold decision: they would take apart every part of their operation and rebuild it from the ground up. Sales, calibrations, repairs, nothing was off the table. Every process was analysed, questioned, and redesigned.

 

 

A new way of working

The transformation has been nothing short of remarkable. Today, when a monitor is sold, one of our team members moves it from the stock room onto the sales shelf. The systems update automatically, keeping our stock records accurate. Then at the start of each week, D365 prints out the orders that are complete and ready to be packaged and sent – simple, streamlined, effective.

The same attention to flow has been applied to our calibration and repair work. Monitors now move throughout the building within their own labelled box, keeping everything together throughout the process. Repairs are completed in the order they are received, creating a clear, logical workflow that everyone understands.
