Tracerco appoints Paul Hartley as Managing Director of Measurement Instruments

Tracerco is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Hartley as Managing Director of its Measurement Instruments business unit, effective 9 February 2026.

Paul joins Tracerco as Managing Director with extensive international experience across engineering, operations, commercial, and senior leadership within the industrial and oil and gas sectors.

A graduate of University of York with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Paul began his career with a postgraduate scholarship at IMI plc, specialising in design engineering. From there, he built a broad and hands-on career spanning engineering, production, operations, and quality.

Reflecting on this journey, Paul recalls how a single comment on improving quality led to him taking on responsibility for leading a Quality function, an experience that shaped his practical, action-oriented leadership style. His time in operations further sharpened his commercial awareness, reinforcing the importance of balancing innovation with delivery and deadlines to meet customer expectations.

Paul went on to hold Managing Director roles across several specialist companies in the oil and gas sector, before moving into a Commercial Director position at Eaton plc. There, he developed a strong customer-focused approach, leading sales, and marketing functions with a clear emphasis on service excellence. He later stepped into the role of Managing Director.

Most recently, Paul served as Chief Commercial Officer at Ovarro, where he played a key role in growing the business under private equity ownership. During this time, he built and developed leadership teams and embedded people-focused processes, an area he remains deeply passionate about.

Commenting on his appointment, Paul said:

What stood out most to me, however, was the people and the culture, it’s a business with strong foundations and huge potential.”

He added:
“In a highly regulated market, safety, efficiency, and reliability are critical. Our customers rely on us to help increase yield, reduce waste, and operate with confidence. The integrity of Tracerco’s Measurement Instruments plays a vital role in delivering that.”

Looking ahead, Paul has identified three key priorities for his first year: the launch, beta testing and customer support (“hypercare”) of the Coke Drum Monitor; the continued development of a full life cycle management approach for instruments from installation onwards; and maintaining strong day-to-day operational performance.
