During routine source replacement on critical level measurement systems, personal electronic dosimeters (PEDs) worn by Tracerco field engineers went into alarm,
alerting them and the accompanying client representative to a spike in radiation levels.

Initial concern arose as the source of the elevated radiation was unclear. It was uncertain whether there was a containment issue with the upcoming work or if there was another factor contributing to the rise. This signalled an unexpected personnel exposure risk.
