Senior Analytical Chemist

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the coordination of a small team or lone working to ensure reservoir tracer analysis is performed, timely, accurately and to a high standard prior to data release to the client.
  • Work in accordance with company Health and Safety procedures to ensure laboratory operations are conducted in a safe manner.
  • Work according to the relevant laboratory quality standard to ensure analysis is performed in line with the most recent procedure, analytical method, or work instruction.
  • Liaise with Reservoir Technology Team to ensure client requirements are understood and met in full and to required timescale.
  • To perform preventative maintenance checks on Laboratory Equipment (predominantly GCMS) to ensure continuity of analytical service.
  • Troubleshoot instrument problems and coordinate with third party companies to ensure timely repair of analytical instrumentation to maintain lab sample throughput.
  • Set up and perform analysis in remote mobile laboratories to enable local analytical service provision across the region.

Essential:

  • Honour’s Degree in Chemistry, Analytical major preferred
  • Demonstrable experience within a GC-MS Laboratory
  • Excellent working knowledge of GC-MS systems
  • Good instrument troubleshooting skills
  • Broad general background knowledge of a range of Analytical Chemistry techniques
  • Should be able to liaise with local maintenance and supply agents to ensure smooth running of the laboratory.
  • Should be able to prepare and arrange all laboratory related documents (MoIAT, ISO etc.) on regular intervals.
  • Would be responsible to organise and maintain the chemical, equipment, and sample storage in the warehouse.
  • Should maintain activity logs for the laboratory for all routine equipment/ expiry date checks.
  • Ready to travel to various countries, as required.
  • Would be expected to work flexible/ additional hours, if required
  • Able to effectively supervise small work teams.
  • Drives safety improvement within the laboratory.
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook)
